ABOUT

We missed places on the internet

Not websites. Places.

Why we built it

Places where your name meant something because the same people saw it more than once. Where a room could develop a mood. Where possessions had stories, events became local history and being present mattered more than posting.

Habitat 2D was built because that kind of online life deserves a future. It takes the clarity and charm of a social pixel world and rebuilds it for the modern web: persistent accounts, a reliable real-time world, proper data storage and a browser client that does not depend on obsolete software.

The result is a new world rather than a reconstruction. Its rooms, artwork, objects and stories belong to this one. What happens next will depend on the people who move in.

What we believe

questions we get asked →
01

Online identity should be expressive without demanding a real photograph.

02

Conversation becomes richer when it happens somewhere.

03

Small communities can be more memorable than enormous audiences.

04

Objects and spaces matter when people can attach stories to them.

05

A virtual world does not need photorealism, a headset or a buzzword to feel alive.
